Especially popular is the open salt water pool at the base of the Shangri La estate, former home of Doris Duke. This stunning estate is now owned by the Honolulu Museum of Art, which offers private tours of the estate grounds and its outstanding art collection.

Explore a little farther by peddle power with one of the 4 bicycles the owner has graciously included for renter use. Diamond Head and Waikiki are now easily within reach without any of the usual hassles and expenses of parking! Save even more money on rentals and purchases by using the numerous boogie boards, 4 soft top surfboards, and other beach gear also provided. When you get home, rinse off the salt with the warm fresh water of your own private outdoor heated shower room in the back yard.

When you head out on an adventure by car, you will be thrilled by this home's central location. Less than 30 minutes on the road in normal traffic will get you to most parts of the island.... Take the scenic drive over the Ko'olau Mountain Range to the north and you'll find the sprawling white sand beaches of Kailua and Lanikai, including the Mokulua Islands just a short kayak paddle off shore with plenty of nearby kayak rentals to choose from so you can explore this iconic island treasure. Be sure to stop at the Pali Lookout at the top of the Ko'olau Mountains on the way there for breathtaking panoramic views of the windward side.... Head 15 minutes east to Hawai'i Kai to stock up at Costco or enjoy water sports adventures galore at Maunalua Bay, including jet skiing, parasailing, surfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, and the exhilarating "Jetpack" thrill ride! Or, take a dip in the crystal clear waters of the world famous Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve for some of the best snorkeling on the planet. Drive east for another 10 minutes to soak in the picturesque coastline views of Koko Head, Sandy Beach, and Makapu'u.... And just 5-10 minutes away to the immediate west is world famous Waikiki, with its myriad of shopping, restaurant, food, bar, and night club options, as well as ocean sports activities galore like surfing lessons, canoe surfing rides, and catamaran cruises. Keep heading west and you'll soon find yourself at Ala Moana Shopping Center, downtown Honolulu, Honolulu harbor and Pearl Harbor.
